Roura has illuminated the Santander Street bridge in Barcelona without the need for streetlights.

Pont Santader Despues 1024x768 1 -

This bridge, which until now functioned as a barrier between the districts of Sant Andreu and Sant Martí, has been transformed into an accessible, safe and permeable structure, promoting pedestrian and cyclist mobility, and serving as a link between the neighborhoods of La Verneda and La Pau and the Bon Pastor.

The challenge:

Achieve an efficient lighting solution for the central part of the bridge that crosses the train tracks, without the use of streetlights. The arches located on the sides of the bridge fulfill a double function: providing lighting and acting as a safety barrier against objects falling onto the train track. The luminaires had to be visually integrated into these arches, merging with the structure. The bridge design includes two sidewalks, two bike lanes, and a dual carriageway.

The solution:

An ad-hoc solution has been designed that integrates the metal arches with the luminaire. In total, 130 linear meters of continuous span have been installed within the arches on both sides of the bridge. Each metal arch is 3 meters long and houses two 2700K, 10W and CRI80 LED screens, each measuring 1.5 meters, with specific optics for this section. The connections between each arch are made mechanically using ball joints that allow the curvature to be adjusted. In addition, small doors have been integrated into the metal panels of the bridge, which house the chest with its fuses.

The result:

The installation, although simple compared to the complexity of the project, has achieved the planned lighting results. Functional lighting has been achieved on the road, with high uniformity and low glare.
